NEMHF 2010 Day 2 - Periphery Interview

Periphery's self titled debut on Sumerian Records was released this past Tuesday April 20. If you haven't heard it yet be sure to grab a copy, and definitely check out their live show if you have a chance. It was phenomenal. I got a chance to chat with Spencer (vocals) and Tom (bass) yesterday before their set at NEMHF 2010, check out the interview below.

NEMHF 2010 Day 2 - Whitechapel Interview

I also got a chance to talk with Phil Bozeman, vocalist of Tennessee titans Whitechapel. Phil was awesome, we got to talk about Whitechapel's upcoming album
A New Era of Corruption on Metal Blade which will be out on June 8. The band's live set was totally crushing. They were super tight and absolutely brutal. By far the most violent main stage pit of all NEMHF 2010. Can't wait to see them again. Check them out if you're not familiar.

NEMHF 2010 Day 2 - Malefice Interview

I got to talk to Tom the bassist of Malefice bright and early Saturday morning before the band hit the main stage. This show was the first Malefice had ever played in the United States, and as Tom says in our interview, the first time the band had been here at all. If you don't know Malefice I encourage you to give them a listen. I love their sound and they put on a great show yesterday despite their nerves on such a big occasion. Tom was one of the nicest guys I've had the pleasure to talk to. After our interview he hung out in the parking lot with my brother and I and talked metal for a while. Great band, check them out, they deserve it. Spread the word, Malefice rules!

*Also* unless the cool dudes over at Metal Injection beat me to the punch, this may very well be Malefice's first interview on American soil. Not 100%, but pretty damn cool nonetheless.

NEMHF 2010 Day 1 - After the Burial Interview

Day 1 of the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival is over and I'm
just about to drive down for the madness that Day 2 has in store.
Yesterday After the Burial performed and I was fortunate enough to
speak with some of the band: guitarist Justin, vocalist Anthony and
bassist Lee. We talked about the NEMHF, progress on their next album, and of course Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video. Check it out below.

Week Nine Update Semester 2

This week I played some brand new songs from Periphery, Danza and Whitechapel and spun some older tracks from Type O Negative and Carnivore in memory of the late great Peter Steele who passed yesterday of heart failure. Hot Damn! No show next week unfortunately as I'll be moshing the day (or entire weekend really I guess) away at the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival in Worcester. The Combine will be back on April 30 for more headbanging tunes though, so no worries! Keep it brutal til then!

Veil of Maya Interview with Marc

Check out my interview with Marc from Veil of Maya below. I caught up with him in Worcester on the final date of the Atticus Metal Tour II. Their set was phenomenal and the whole show was awesome. Marc was really down to earth and a cool guy to talk to. Off camera we talked about our mutual affinity for Jersey Shore and guido fist pumps. Great to hear they'll be on Summer Slaughter too, I look forward to seeing them live again in the future.

Also don't forget Veil of Maya's new album [id] will be in stores on April 6 so go buy a copy!
